WiTH Backs Boundless Brilliance at City of STEM Event

This past spring, members of Women in Technology Hollywood (WiTH) volunteered at the Boundless Brilliance Booth at the City of STEM event in Los Angeles.

WITH volunteers helped children with hands-on activities around engineering, coding, and science concepts including “writing your name in binary and making a bracelet out of it,” nature walks, build the strongest and tallest bridge, and more.

Boundless Brilliance, which offers free, empowering STEM workshops to local elementary schools, is searching for a new executive director. The contract position is 15-20 hours a week with the potential to become full time.

Boundless Brilliance is a 501c3 nonprofit founded in 2017 by three female STEM majors while they were students at Occidental College.

The idea for Boundless Brilliance emerged when the founders read a study published in Science Magazine which found that by age six, children begin to associate intelligence with men. Its mission is to educate, empower, and engage students in order to close the gender and racial gap in STEM fields. The organization envisions a future of STEM leadership that is as diverse as the world in which we live.

More from the job posting:

We utilize a unique early intervention approach to carry out our mission, which includes the use of empowerment messaging & social-emotional learning – targeting students as early as 6 years old. Our no-cost classroom and community based hands-on STEM workshops helps to ensure that our programs are accessible to all; particularly those from underserved & marginalized communities. Our aim is for them to recognize their brilliance, choose their own paths, and to understand that they have boundless opportunities to pursue in life. While our college interns, who we provide with robust training and mentorship, are provided with real world professional development; and an opportunity to engage & serve their communities.

The COVID-19 pandemic both challenged and strengthened Boundless Brilliance. Throughout and following the pandemic we not only retained our entire staff, but added another contract position, readily transitioned into virtual programs, and now provide both virtual and in-person programming, launched new chapters, and are excited about the next stage of growth of the organization.
